Standard envelope sizes follow international ISO standards designed to fit standard paper sizes (like A4 or A5). The most common sizes are DL (110 x 220 mm) for business letters, C6 (114 x 162 mm) for small cards, C5 (162 x 229 mm) for folded documents, and C4 (229 x 324 mm) for flat, unfolded pages. 

Common Envelope Sizes and Uses

• DL (110 x 220 mm):Fits an A4 sheet folded into three equal parts. Great for bills and business letters.
• C6 (114 x 162 mm):Fits an A4 sheet folded in half twice (quarters) or an A5 sheet folded in half. Ideal for small greeting cards and invitations.
• C5 (162 x 229 mm):Fits an A4 sheet folded in half once, or an unfolded A5 sheet. Used for brochures and statements.
• C4 (229 x 324 mm):Fits a full, unfolded A4 sheet of paper. Used for certificates and large reports that must not be bent.

C3 (324 x 458 mm): Fits an unfolded large A3 sheet of paper. 

PDF

• Supply your files as a high resolution press-ready PDF
• Images are to be correctly positioned and linked
• All fonts are either included, embedded or outlined
• Include trim, fold and registration marks
• All pages are to be supplied as single pages (not spreads)

Bleed

A minimum of 3mm bleed beyond the finished page size is required.

Colours

• Colours and images are to be converted
• from RGB to CMYK or Pantone colours
• are to be specified as spot colours
• Black text should be 100% black (not CMYK black)
• Varnishes are to be identified as additional spot colours
